Coaching Certification: With the passing of recent RFD's by the OSA, new coaching requirements came into effect. These are the new rules as we know them today.
1.If you are a U9 or older coach or assistant and already have your Level 3 (Senior Community Coach), you need to take the “Respect in Soccer” course, (on-line, about 2 1/2 hours, via the OSA web-site...www.ontariosoccer.net). In my Nov.27 memo to you. The cost of the “Respect in Soccer” course is $35. Keep receipts for possible reimbursement. This must be completed by April 15, 2012.
2. If you are a U9-U11g or a U9-U12b coach or assistant who has not completed Level 3, then you must take the new “Learning to Train” course. These are posted on the OSA web-site. Register early to get a spot in those courses in or near Hamilton. You are also required to take the “Respect in Soccer” course by Apr. 15.
3. If you are a coach or assistant of an older youth or senior team and you do not have Level 3, then you are required to complete the new “Soccer for Life” course, as well as the “Respect in Soccer” course by April 15.
4. If you coach U7-U8 teams, you are recommended to take the new “Fundamentals” course and the “Respect in Soccer” course, although these are not mandated(yet!)
5. Everyone who does not have their Level 3 will also be required to take the “MAKING ETHICAL DECISIONS” course. More information on this will follow.
