Code of Conduct
THE COACHES' CHARTER
- The Coach must respect the rights, dignity and worth of every person and treat everyone equally within context of the sport.
- The Coach must place the well being and safety of each player above all other Considerations, including the development of performance
- The Coach must develop an appropriate working relationship with each player based on Mutual trust and respect.
- The Coach must not exert undue influence to obtain personal benefit or reward.
- The Coach must encourage and guide players to accept responsibility for their own Behaviour and performance.
- The Coach must ensure that the activities they direct or advocate are appropriate for the age, maturity, experience and ability of players.
- The Coach should clarify with the player (and where appropriate, their parents) exactly what is expected of them and also what they are entitled to expect from their coach.
- The Coach must always promote the positive aspects of the sport (e.g. fair play) and never condone violations of the laws of the game
- The Coach must consistently display high standards of behaviour and appearance.
- The Coach must ensure that his overall priority is to make learning fun, and that players are progressed to their maximum potential in both individual and team skills.
THE PLAYERS CHARTER
- The player must ensure that they have the appropriate equipment for each occasion
- The player should give maximum effort and strive for their best performance during a game or practice session.
- The player must not use inappropriate language, sportsmanship or time wasting tactics. They shall set a positive example for others, particularly younger players and supporters.
- The player must accept success and failure, victory and defeat equally. The player must treat opponents with due respect at all times irrespective of result of game.
- The player must safeguard the physical fitness of opponents, avoid violence and rough play and help injured players where possible
- The player must accept the decision of the game official without protest and show due respect towards all game officials and team officials of the opposition
- The player must abide with the instructions of his coach and team officials, provided they do not contradict the spirit of this code.
- The player must arrive for practice and games on time or notify the coach, in advance of any reason for not being there
- The player must show respect for the facilities and equipment they use.
THE PARENTS CHARTER
- The parent must ensure that the player has the required equipment for each occasion (e,g, game and practice.)
- The parent must ensure that the player arrives and is collected by the appointed times for practice sessions and games.
- The parent must inform the coach, as far in advance as possible, if the player will not be available for a practice session or game
- The parent must inform the coach of any illness or ailment that may affect the performance or health of player
- The parent must always encourage ALL players during the game regardless of the result of the game
- The parent should not give instructions to the players during the game or at half time interval. This is the responsibility of the coach.
- The parent must respect the rights of the coach to make decisions regarding training methods, team selections substitutions and game tactics unless they contradict the spirit of the code.
- The parent must be courteous and polite at all times towards opponents, coaches, managers, referees and officials.
- The parent should feel free to approach the coach to discuss any aspect of the players soccer development.
PLAYER/ PARENT/ CLUB AGREEMENT
SUMMARY OF CODE OF CONDUCT
- The player & parent must take responsibility to ensure that the appropriate equipment (soccer shoes/ shinpads etc.) are provided for each occasion.
- The player & coach should arrive at least ten minutes before practice and at least thirty minutes before the game, unless otherwise directed by the coach.
- The player or parent must inform the coach well in advance if they are going to be late or absent from a practice session or game.
- The player is expected to show a positive attitude and to follow directions given by the coach.
- The player, parent, & coach must be courteous and respectful at all times towards team-mates opponents, coaches, managers, referees and officials.
- The player, parent & coach must not swear, spit or use foul language or racist remarks
- The player, parent & coach must support the team. Encouragement must be used at all times.
- The player, parent & coach must work together in a positive and constructive manner.
"To win at all costs is not the true test of achievement. There is nothing wrong with trying to win as long as you don’t put the prize above the performance. There is no disgrace in defeat as long as you play to the best of your ability and give total commitment.”
This code of conduct defines the standards for the relationship between players, parents and coaches associated with Hamilton Sparta Sports Club.
Conduct yourself accordingly when representing Hamilton Sparta Sports Club.
